SHOCK IN PINK ROOM

We only had one night in Bologna due to flying in on our way to Tuscany but wish we had stayed longer (we did return for lunch on our way back) as much for the hotel. Fantastic central location, quirky but comfortable rooms - ours was dedicated to an Italian designer whose name I forget but we had plastic Lobsters on our door, chair and on the wall and the decor was pink. We even had a pink boa wrapped round a bird cage in the bathroom. Made us smile.

We had the Schiaparelli room which was decorated with themed touches, not huge but the mirrored wall made it feel larger and the bathroom was lovely. Bed very comfortable. A street view, noise was not a problem since we always take earplugs if we’re requesting a room at the front of a city centre hotel! Two minutes’ walk from the Piazza Maggiore and Via Pescherie Vecchie – perfect for food and aperitifs. Staff friendly, nice touches such as the book swap, and bookmarks, daily mats in the lift, turndown service, tea tray in the room made this the perfect location for a couple of nights in Bologna.

Stayed 1 week in the pink room. Bed was great, air conditioning was excellent (rare in Italy). The restaurant next door offered gluten-free options and soy milk for breakfast, and dinner was very good too (I had tortellini and a cutlet which was larger than the dinner plate). Strong wi-fi signal. Staff was very helpful and professional. Located nearby to the Piazza Maggiore and several restaurants. A great choice; would not hesitate to stay there again.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay here. We loved it! We stayed in the SHOCK PINK room, which was really quirky. The hotel is in a great location right next to the square.
All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. It was a bonus to get free wifi in the rooms too.
We didnt'nt eat in the restaurant, however the breakfast choice was good. We will definately be returning in the future.

Consiglio sulle camere: We had the Shock Pink room and loved it, there are other unusual rooms to.! Makes you intrigued

I pro: The fun and very lovingly finished decor (it's all about the details), the friendly and helpful staff and the brilliant location.
Posizione: The hotel is next to Piazza Maggiore so everything is close. Visit Divinis for amazing wine and pasta or La Mela for real home-cooked Italian.
Al Cappello Rosso must be among the most unique hotels in Bologna with a number of super-stylish themed rooms that make staying in the hotel a real occasion. My fiancee and I stayed in room 202 – the shock in pink room – and absolutely loved the little touches that made it so much fun. In addition, the staff at the hotel could not have been more helpful or friendly, while the hotel's location so close to the Piazza Maggiore was perfect (the restaurants nearby are also great - visit Divinis around the corner for an amazing choice of wine or La Mela for inexpensive but wonderful pasta and pizza). I would not hesitate in recommending the hotel to anyone visiting Bologna and I certainly intend to stay there again myself. Next time I'm hoping for the room themed on John Cage!

"Wow! What an amazing room! Beautiful design and yes, pink. The "Shock in Pink Room 202" is dedicated to the legendary fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli and there are plastic lobsters. Hooray. The room was large, beds comfortable and the bathtub amazing. The hotel is located steps away from the Piazza Maggiore and a plethora of dining and shopping options. Love the sharing library concept too. Staff was welcoming and very helpful. Really enjoyed my three night stay here."
