BOLOGNA FOTOGRAFATA - TRE SECOLI DI SGUARDI

From: 9/06/2017 - To: 30/09/2017

Many stories of Bologna and its people through the eyes of many photographers. Bologna fotografata. Tre secoli di sguardi (Photographed Bologna. Three centuries of glances) is the new exhibition set up by Cineteca di Bologna in the Sottopasso di Piazza Re Enzo, from June 9th to September 30th, 2017.
Hundreds of photos to create a long journey through the city’s characters and stories, in order to make a portrait of Bologna along “three centuries of glances”: the 1800s, the 1900s and the new millennium.

The eyes of a photographer can be the witness of everything that goes on and everyday life. This exhibition looks back at the twentieth-century Bologna through the eyes of many photographers. They capture the changes of modernity while still leaving space for remnants of magnificent relics (city walls) or an unimaginable river profile. Photographers’ images of the urban revolutions between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries create a long journey through the city’s characters and stories (from the First World War to the Fascist years, from Liberation to the reconstruction following the Second World War, with Dozza, Lercaro and Zangheri). A journey which is interwoven with an exploration of art of photography itself, in Bologna with artists such as Enrico Pasquali, Aldo Ferrari and Nino Comaschi.
